Terre of Melazzano is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine producing region of Tuscany, half way between Siena and Florence when you drive down the renowned Chiantigiana country road that connects these two historical cities.
Our organic wine farm is spread across 40 hectares of land: 22 are dedicated to vineyards and 3 are filled with olive trees.
Our tasting room is situated one kilometer from the center of Greve in Chianti, and it overlooks rolling Tuscan hills with magnificent vistas on vineyards, olive groves, and stone farmhouses that have been here for centuries.
Terre di Melazzano organic wine farm is dedicated to wine production and hospitality in our typical Tuscan farmhouses. We are committed to sustainable tourism and respect for the environment.
Our approach to clean energy is shown in the innovative solar panel system installed at the winery, giving us clean energy independence. In 2012 we transitioned to an organic production system that involves the exclusive use of natural products throughout the growth cycle in the vineyards.
The philosophy at Terre di Melazzano pays close attention to the surroundings, workplace, and daily life by adapting to the timing rhythm of nature, ensuring both high quality products and a healthy lifestyle.
Our dedication to research and development led us to the crafting of the first sulphite-free Chianti Classico. We were searching for a 100% natural product as nature intended, made with the best grapes. Our sulphite-free Chianti Classico Riscoperto is ideal for wine drinkers who are allergic to sulphites or have low tolerance to sulphur-based additives.
We put our heart into every single endeavor and share great passion for our craft, inspiring all the family members who work with us. A personal touch that is dynamic, creative, and uniquely Tuscan.
Terre di Melazzano was founded in 1959 by Piero Giulio Falciani, who came from a family of winemakers and was mesmerised by the breathtaking surroundings and 'terroir' at Melazzano, especially adapt for growing grapes. He bought the estate and planted the first vines, then began renovating the farmhouses and built the winery. That was only the beginning of our family-run company.
Piero's son Andrea showed the same passion in winemaking and continued in his father's footsteps with determination and commitment, increasing the vineyard area to the current 22 hectares. He transformed buildings used for agriculture into rural tourism receptive facilities and at the same time, boosted production of high quality Chianti Classico.
Andrea's daughter Chiara followed suit and after graduating in Economics at the University of Siena, she joined the company bringing in a new generation and innovative approach to winemaking and wine marketing.
In 2012 another 'Andrea' joined the business. Andrea Pirovano is a winemaker originally from Valtellina (Lombardy) who studied viticulture and enology in Milan and following a Masters from the University of Florence, fell in love with the beauty of Chianti … and Chiara :)
Since then, Terre di Melazzano organic wine farm counts on three family members - two Andreas and Chiara - to continue winemaking traditions while innovating year after year.
